Play Imaginative Super Alloy 1/12 Scale Iron Man 2 Hammer Drones Set Available to Pre-Order

6inch-Drones-Group-Sales-Kit-05

YesAnime, Play Imaginative’s distributor in the United States, has the 1/12 scale Super Alloy Hammer Drones from Iron Man 2 up for pre-order now. I was wondering if they’d be available individually – at least for the exclusive versions, no. They’ll come in a set of four for $419.99. The exclusive version will have additional weathering paint apps. I suppose if you wanted them in pristine shape, you’d have to get them directly from Justin Hammer.

If you pre-order now, when they ship in April next year, you’ll also get four of the “bully” devices that appeared in Iron Man 3 with the Mark 42 armor. These light capsules will be in 1:1 scale (pretend you’re Tony Stark!) and will have flaps that open to reveal LED lights that work as if they were activated. That’s a pretty cool incentive.

I was pretty impressed when I saw the Hammer Drones and the rest of the 1/12 scale Super Alloy Iron Man figures at NYCC. I just wish one of these lottery tickets would pay off, so I could afford to army build these babies!

Whoops – meant to post this earlier today, because Entertainment Earth is offering 40% off selected Play Arts Kai figures from Square Enix. Soapbox Sunday: Doomsday Unleashed vs Bound – By the Numbers (Yours)

Doomsday Unleashed vs Bound

Last week, I suggested that Mattel is making a mistake by choosing the “bound” or “jail-suit” version of Doomsday for its San Diego Comic-Con exclusive next year. To summarize, I put forth that most people would prefer the “unleashed” version of the monster that killed Superman, and that with 2014 being the swan song for DC Universe Classics, going out on a whimper would be a disappointment to fans and Mattel alike.

And then I put it to you and asked which Doomsday would you prefer. So far, a couple hundred of you voted, and I’ve taken a look at the results – are any surprises in store?

Weekend Toy Run: Mattel Shop $20 or $50 Off Sale plus Free Shipping This Weekend Only

Sure, you have to spend $100 to get $20 off, or $200 to get $50 off, but Mattel Shop’s sale this weekend might not be that hard to get if you’re a fan of Mattel’s DC and WWE product lines. Here’s some ideas that will help get your there:

Added bonus – if you hit either threshold, you also qualify for free shipping, since that clicks in when you put $25 in your cart. And if you’re still having trouble getting there – there’s always Barbie or Monster High for those female collectors in your life. Ok, or for you too – I won’t tell!

Captain America: the Winter Soldier Trailer Looks Awesome – Bring on the Toys!

Captain America the Winter Soldier trailer

Thor: the Dark World may be opening in two weeks, but Cap is generating his own hype with the official trailer for Captain America: the Winter Soldier. Looks awesome! I still think that while Chris Evans is great in the role of Cap, he still looks super goofy in the helmet they designed for the movie – and I think Marvel Studios knows it too, which is why it gets so little airtime in the trailer. The Steve Rogers Super Soldier costume from the comics looks great, though I don’t hold out much hope for a better looking helmet if that becomes his Cap costume in the movie (the action figure hints that the helmet will be just like the old one).

All the supporting characters look great – ScarJo looks good as Black Widow with the super straight hair we saw first in action figure form. Thankfully, Howard Anthony Mackie as the Falcon looks like a badass, and not goofy considering how his costume from the comics might have turned out in live action. And Samuel L. Jackson – looks like rough times for the eye patch are coming.

Captain America: the Winter Soldier is due out in April next year. Luckily, we have a much shorter wait for the action figures, which should be out early first quarter. We got some reveals for the Captain America Marvel Legends line (aka Captain America: The Winter Soldier – Infinity Legends) at NYCC, and Previews had some more details for the Cap line recently. And don’t worry – Cap figures based on the comics will be part of the line too.
