All good things must take a break, and so it is with Wayback Wednesday. I am in the process of moving over the next month and a half, and therefore all of my toys are saying goodbye to the sunlight and being packed away. However, the silver lining of this is that it gives all of you the opportunity to let me know what YOU would like to see on upcoming Wayback Wednesday features!
Recently I have acquired a few additions to my Glyos collection, and a random assortment at that. So in commemoration, I give you a random explosion of pics of toys from this amazing project! You can find an archive of past releases, and buy the current releases at Onell Designs’ site.
Canonball is back with another guest review. This time around he’s got his hands on a Transformers Windcharger – one that may not see a broad release in the US. He was last here with a review of Titanium Man from Iron Man Legends. Check out his blog at Canonball’s Run.
With the “Reveal the Shield” line winding down, there is a lot of speculation regarding the possibility of a few key figures not seeing a US brick and mortar retail release. Chief among them is the scout-class Windcharger – I was able to get my hands on one thanks to some help from a UK-based Fwoosher. Windcharger is a member of the original Ark crew, making him an essential G1 character, the likes of which many fans go nuts for. Despite being one of the original Transformers characters released in 1984, Windcharger hasn’t seen many releases since his debut in 1984, so this update is welcome and arguably long overdue.
Battleground Teela will be available in June – even though she’s designated the quarterly A-list variant, I’m looking forward to her more than I do the Faceless One. Mattel took her bio in an unexpected direction – this is Teela after she’s learned she’s the Sorceress’s daughter (and by cloning, really?) and become the new guardian of Castle Grayskull. I always thought she’d make a better companion to Vikor, and will put her next to him in my Preternia display.
Teela’s new look – card front
The continuing story of Teela unfolds….
We just got in a final packaged sample! Enjoy. Battleground Teela goes on sale June 15th (along with the monthly figure Faceless One!) only on Mattycollector.com. She is included in the 2011 Club Eternia subscription as the 2nd quarter A-List variant figure but will also be available to purchase for non subscribers.
I love that WonderCon is a local show for me. Toy Fair is a trek, and even though San Diego is a short hour and a half flight away, it’s great not to have to deal with airports and hotels to soak in some pop culture and toys. But one thing that’s definitely changed in the past couple of years is how many people are showing up to WonderCon. It doesn’t have nearly the space or exhibitors compared to San Diego Comic-Con, but it’s starting to match SDCC in terms of people density. And a lot of those people show up in costume.
