DC Collectibles Announces Hal Jordan / Saint Walker 2-Pack and Poison Ivy NYCC 2013 Exclusives

While I really like the articulation setup on DC Collectible’s 3.75-inch Lantern figures, I think they need to come up with some different body types if they want to eventually expand the character selection. While the current body is fine for guys like Hal Jordan, it’s a bit too thick for lean characters like Saint Walker.

You can still pick up all the previous GL exclusives except the Kyle Rayner / Kilowog 2-pack at Graphitti Designs.

DC Collectibles Announces “Con Exclusives” for New York Comic-Con

DC Collectibles, the high-end toy and collectible line from DC Entertainment revealed two exciting new “con exclusive” products that will only be available for purchase at New York Comic-Con 2013.

The first is a Super Best Friends Forever: Poison Ivy PVC Figure, designed by Lauren Faust and sculpted by Irene Matar. Super Best Friends Forever is from the popular interstitial shorts shown during DC Nation on Cartoon Network. Poison Ivy measures approximately 6.625” tall and is priced at $24.95.

The second con exclusive is a DC Comics Super Heroes: Hal Jordan & Saint Walker Action Figure 2-pack sculpted by Robert Lynders. This set is the latest in the 3.75” scale and is priced at $29.95. The 3.75” action figures continue to be a must-have con exclusive from DC Collectibles.

Power-Con 2013: Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Classics Reveals

One of these days I will make it Power-Con, but in the meantime, I’m scouring the web for info for the latest from Mattel’s Masters of the Universe Classics line. Here’s what I’ve seen that Mattel has revealed:

Blade (Masters of the Universe film) – Club Eternia, April 2014
Scorpia (She-Ra: Princess of Power) – Club Eternia, May 2014
Battle Lion (Masters of the Universe MYP cartoon – Club Eternia, May 2014 – $38 for subscribers, $42 day of sales
Extendar (Masters of the Universe) – shield teaser, more details to come

Other points of interest: the Club Eternia subscription will re-open in a few days. I’ve seen info that says it will remain open through February of 2014, but I’ll wait for Mattel to confirm that. Mattel also hinted at a new accessory pack, this time containing alternate 200X heads, and asked fans to let them know which characters were most wanted. Apparently, they are thinking of a pack of six heads, of which Clawful is most likely a lock already.

Weekend Toy Run: Marvel Universe Rhino, Mysterio, and Elektra

I know the weekend is over, but I saw that the new figures from Marvel Universe wave 22 were back down to regular prices at Amazon while I was doing some late night shopping last night – so it still counts! The Marvel Universe Rhino, Mysterio, and Elektra are back at $11.99 a figure, after several weeks of high third party prices.

I’m thinking about converting Rhino into a keychain, in honor of Deadpool. Happy shopping!

Soapbox Sunday: What’s Wrong with Mattel’s New DC Retail Lines?

A couple of weeks ago, I posed the question if Hasbro could revitalize the G.I. JOE brand by launching a new 6-inch action figure line. I reasoned that if the Star Wars team could make it work with the Black Series and the Marvel team could go the other way (from 6-inch to 4-inch) with Marvel Universe, then it could work for Joes too.

This past week I got my first look at Mattel’s attempt to breathe new life into their DC Comics license at retail with the DC Total Heroes and DC Comics Multiverse lines as pre-orders went live online. And good Grodd – I dislike them so much I want them to fail. Now I’m left wondering – are my feelings unfounded, making me a hypocrite? Why should I want to see this happen for G.I. JOE when I can’t stand Mattel’s attempt to do the same?
