ThreeZero to Make 1/6 Scale Figures from The Walking Dead?

Here’s an unofficial announcement (read: rumor) that is starting to make the rounds. The earliest trace I could find of it is from the BBICN boards – a BBICN member posted that ThreeZero has licensed the Walking Dead from AMC and will be producing 1/6 scale figures, and that they will be on display at San Diego Comic-Con.

I have been posting quite a bit about ThreeA Toys since I jumped on the bandwagon a few years back. ThreeZero is the home of the 3A Toys “Hatchery” – they are the production arm, or factory, that makes the toys. ThreeZero is owned and operated by Kim Fung Wong. He’s also Ashley Wood’s partner in 3A.

Still, this news / rumor is a little puzzling to me. After all, zombies are one of 3A’s mainstays. And 3A has been on a licensing tear, adding a diverse line-up in the past couple years. They’ve got 2000 A.D., Marvel, Valve, Metal Gear Solid, and Real Steel. They just closed out pre-orders for the first figures from their Halo 2 and Lost Planet 2 lines. So it seems odd that Walking Dead would fall under ThreeZero instead of ThreeA.

But who knows what twists and turns happen behind the scenes in the licensing game. We’ll talk to 3A at SDCC and see if we can find out more about this.

No Masters of the Universe Classics Clamp Champ for MattyCollector’s July Sale Today at 9AM PST

MattyCollector July Sale

To be fair, Mattel did warn us that some figures this year would have no day of sale stock, but for a character with a vintage counterpart like Clamp Champ? Seems like an odd choice. But with some new reports of MOTUC overstock hitting Big Lots, that might explain why management might be a little trigger shy on keeping the production levels at previous levels. All the other Masters should be available – that’s Icer from the new Filmation sub and New Adventures He-Man. Plus the customer service stock for Dragon Blaster Skeletor, Granymyr, and Filmation Randor still show as Coming Soon – I think that means they didn’t sell out during Early Access, which I missed last Thursday. Not that I intended to buy anything, but it seems like a better proposition for subscribers if Early Access were open from whenever it starts all the way through the actual sale. It seems arbitrary to open it just for a few hours on one day in advance.

On the DC side, I know a bunch of Captain Marvel fans are looking forward to Captain Marvel Junior, aka Freddy Freeman. And Watchmen fans are getting Nite Owl. I guess Mattel is holding back the Ozymandias reveal for the big show this week.

For your convenience, here’s the direct link to the bundle page for the MattyCollector July sale.

I Can’t Believe San Diego Comic-Con is Almost Here!

I got this notice from Warner Bros. about their bags for Comic-Con. When you are picking up loot, whether it’s something you’re buying or promotional swag a booth babe is handing to you, you need someplace to put it as you walk the floor. You would not believe what a life-saver it is to get your hands on these huge backpack bags that they hand out as you enter the San Diego Convention Center.

Anyways, I am woefully unprepared for SDCC. I am wrapping up a family reunion this week – we try to get together at least once a year, usually during summer when all my nieces and nephews are out of school – and almost as soon as I get home, it’s back to the road for San Diego Comic-Con.

As usual, we’ll be providing updates directly from the show floor and during the evenings when we’re recuperating in our hotel rooms. Be sure to follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and subscribe to our Youtube channel. And for updates as they’re happening, be sure to follow my AFPRon Instagram account.

Updates may be light at the start of next week, but it’ll pick up on Wednesday!

Check Out the Street Fighter x Sanrio and Futurama SDCC Exclusives from Toynami

I was just mulling over the Skelanimal Harley Quinn SDCC exclusive from Toynami when I came across the rest of the Toynami exclusives for this year. Since my wife jumped through hoops to get the Hello Kitty Chun Li, I know we’ll be in line for these mashup versions of Akuma and Ryu – Badtz Maru is the bad-ass of the Hello Kitty-verse, so I must have Badtz Ryu.

Futurama fans will want the Destructor vs Gender Bender box set from the Ultimate Robot Fighting League episode. I’ve got a hankering to watch some episodes on Netflix now.

The Four Horsemen Gothitropolis Ravens Kickstarter project started at Midnight EST last night – have you backed it yet?

I haven’t yet, but that’s only because I’m pre-posting this update from a time zone that wouldn’t like me staying up for the launch – but as soon as I wake up, I’ll be clicking on this link to the Four Horsemen’s Kickstarter profile page, clicking through to the Ravens project, and giving it a kick. I hope you’re on board too!
