Mattel Announces San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Masters of the Universe Classics Mini He-Man & Skeletor Figures

For their final SDCC exclusive reveal of the week, Mattel unveiled a possible line extension for its Masters of the Universe Classics line – Mini Masters! We had seen stylized mini-MOTU figures previously at San Diego, with the cryptic messaging that they were trying to find a home for this new cute but deadly format. Mattel has found them a tie-in with the popular He-Man: The Most Powerful Game in the Universe download for your iPhone and iPad. (Android users take heart – He-Man is still making his way to Android devices.)

For now, we’ve got He-Man and Skeletor as exclusives – but if they’re popular, maybe we’ll be seeing more next year on MattyCollector.com. Best thing is that these new figures are in scale with the upcoming Masters of the Universe Classics Castle Grayskull. I kid! I KID!

Mattel also announced they’d be bringing the last of the remaining Back to the Future Hover Boards to the show.

Masters of the Universe® Classics Mini He-Man® & Skeletor® Figures

Great things come in small packages! At long last, the fan demanded mini versions of He-Man® and Skeletor®… in a foldout mini Castle Grayskull® diorama package! Each figure has six points of articulation at the arms, legs, waist and neck, and comes with snap-on accessories such as a power sword, shield and havoc staff. He-Man® features a shield with traditional j-hook, allowing it to be held out in front instead of clipped onto his arm!

Icon Heroes Announces Filmation He-Man Mini-Bust, Q&A with Designer Joe Amaro

Icon Heroes has really been on a tear in recent days. Their Castle Grayskull Polystone Environment is coming out this month, and they’ve just announced another Masters of the Universe item – the He-Man Mini-Bust Paperweight.

Based on the 1980’s Filmation television series, He-Man wields his power sword atop a Castle Grayskull tower base defying evil. Designed and sculpted by Joe Amaro and the Four Horsemen, this complete piece comes with sheath and Master of the Universe logo. Cast in high quality polystone, the He-Man Mini Bust Paperweight stands approximately 12 inches tall from the bottom of the base to the tip of the Power Sword. We were lucky enough to chat with Nate Baersch, designer of the Icon Heroes Castle Grayskull a couple days ago, and it’s a special treat for us to chat today with Joe Amaro, who designed and sculpted this mini-bust in collaboration with the Four Horsemen. Joe is noted in the collectibles community for his MOTU-inspired creations, like his Manta Raider collaboration with Rudy Obrero. His professional credentials include a stint at Jazwares. Joe was gracious enough to answer our questions about the mini-bust and some of his other projects.

Hasbro Reveals San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive Star Wars Black Series Boba Fett – USAToday.com

And speaking of Star Wars Day, Hasbro has just revealed their SDCC exclusive for the upcoming Star Wars Black Series. It’s fan favorite Boba Fett, with a carbonite-encased Han Solo. Impressive. Most impressive.

Detailed ‘Star Wars’ toy from Hasbro comes packaged with the ultimate accessory: Han Solo in carbonite.

One of the collectible toys that Hasbro will have available exclusively at the pop-culture event this year is a detailed 6-inch Boba Fett action figure from the new Star Wars Black Series. What’s even better is that he comes packaged with two weapons, his iconic jet pack and the ultimate accessory: Han Solo frozen in carbonite.

Kids of all ages can relive the moments in the Cloud City of Bespin during The Empire Strikes Back where Boba Fett hauls off his prey, or the scenes in Return of the Jedi where the iconic bounty hunter has taken Solo to Jabba the Hutt’s palace on Tattooine.

Mattel Announces San Diego Comic-Con Exclusive DC Universe Classic TV Series Batusi Batman

It’s actually a re-announcement, for those of you paying attention, since Warner Bros. had introduced the Batusi Batman as part of a licensing launch announcement at Meltdown Comics back near the end of March. Since I wasn’t paying attention back then, the re-announcement suits me just fine. I am curious about the “internal mechanism” of the figure – is this some kind of action feature in the torso? I’ll have to look back at my earlier TV series Batman pics to see if the regular figures have ab articulation. (Yes, they have ab crunches.)

Mattel also introduced a classic TV series Catwoman Barbie and a Hot Wheels A-Team van. Holy nostalgia, Batman!

It’s the dance craze that swept the nation! For the first time ever, this Batusi Batman™ figure recreates the iconic dance from the BATMAN Classic TV series!
