Maybe it’s just me, but with the San Diego Comic-Con exclusives Mattel revealed yesterday, I am starting to think they are losing touch with their core market for their collector-oriented lines – the little boys that grew up with toys from He-Man and DC Comics and now have a strong nostalgic pull toward their grown-up versions. I understand the Cars, the Tiny Titans and the Polly Pockets – those same guys now have little boys and girls of their own, and SDCC has become a family event. But the rest seem odd or somehow miss the mark.

Avengers: New Evil – BillsComics.com
The Avengers movie is opening in the US a week from today, and we’ve got a timely update from Bill’s Comics. He’s shared his latest Action Figure Comic, this one featuring the Avengers and the Masters of Evil. Check out the homage to the movie poster on the cover – cool stuff!

Hasbro Avengers Movie Promo Vault Box Contents
I had no idea when I posted the teaser pic for this Hasbro Avengers Movie promo package that it’d take me a week to post the contents. So sorry for the wait – I’ve been a little pre-occupied at The Fwoosh celebrating our 10th anniversary of being on the interwebs. Hopefully I can make it up to you by confirming that we will indeed be getting this whole package into the hands of some lucky Fwoosher.
The box, which I’m calling the Avengers Vault, holds a bunch of stuff. It’s got the four main Avengers in the 4-inch scale – Iron Man, Captain America, Thor, and the Hulk. It’s also got a 10-inch Ultimate Hero Hulk that packs an electronic voice chip with lots of entertaining sound bites and effects. And if role play is your thing, it’s got Iron Man’s repulsor, Cap’s mask, and yes! – the return of Hulk hands! As cool as all the goodies are, one of the coolest things about the box is the box itself.

Diamond Select Toys Battle Beasts Vorin – Breakdown and Thoughts
If you’ve been paying any attention over the last week, the internet has kind of exploded over Battle Beasts. Diamond Select Toys had their big unveiling at C2E2 last weekend (see our coverage here) and many people had differing thoughts regarding the line, me included. Then to cap off DST’s reveals, this week Takara/TOMY unveiled their new Beast Fight! line, which in many opinions is what fans had hoped DST’s line would be. So what’s all the fuss over DST’s version of the Beasts who Battle? Let’s discuss.

Hasbro Marvel Press Pics – Loki’s Army and Ultimate Spider-Man
Hasbo released some press pics (the first in a while):
- Loki’s Army 3.75 inch figure
- Loki’s Army 3.75-INCH POWER-UP MISSION PACKS
- 6-inch Spider-Man Ultimate Comics Spider-Man
- Marvel Universe Spider-Man variant
With the Avengers movie just two weeks away, the embargo is lifted on revealing the otherworldy creatures that serve Loki. We first saw a 7-inch Marvel Select version of Loki’s Army at C2E2, and it’s no surprise that Hasbro would also have its own versions, one single carded and one deluxe version.
Dave Vonner told us at Hasbro’s Toy Fair Marvel Universe presentation that we’d be seeing a Miles Morales Ultimate Spider-Man variant in Marvel Universe this year, but we hadn’t heard that a 6-inch version was coming too. I am going to guess the 6-incher will go to the Spider-Man line, instead of Marvel Legends, unless Legends is going back to bases instead of build-a-figure parts.
