ThreeA Toys Adventure Kartel Dead Astronaut Gangsta Pre-Order Opens Today

The AK Golden Dolphin set was the first of the Adventure Kartel sets needed to get a promotional AK Shadow. I was still decompressing from SDCC when that pre-order went up, so I missed posting about it.

The Dead Astronaut Gangsta set is the second of the four sets for that Shadow. The white and black Gangstas will also be available as singles (with no Shadow promo later, of course). It all goes up for pre-order on Bambaland today in a couple of hours, at 6PM EST. The window for pre-ordering is 24 hours.

Sideshow Lists Exclusive Evil Superman from Superman III

Hot Toys Superman (Evil Version) 2

When Sideshow put the Star-Spangled Captain America and G.I. JOE’s Joe Colton up for pre-sale last week, I wondered what happened to the third of the Hot Toys “Toy Fairs” exclusives. I guess it wasn’t too far behind, because the Hot Toys Evil Superman from Superman III is now up for pre-order. Since Sideshow is the Hot Toys distributor in the US, I think they’ll be the only ones to carry this here.

It’s been so long since I’ve seen any of the Christopher Reeve Superman movies that I have pretty much no recollection of the third movie with Richard Pryor – I’m thinking that’s probably a good thing given its low ratings. But it’s probably time to watch them again.

With One Week to Go, the Four Horsemen’s Gothitropolis Ravens Kickstarter is Still Kicking Ass

Kickstarter - Gothitropolis Ravens by the Four Horsemen - 1 week to go

With the doom and gloom dampening the spirits of some of the bigger collector-oriented lines, it’s nice to know that a passionate fan-base can help a smaller, non-licensed toy line get a big start. The Four Horsemen’s Gothitropolis Ravens Kickstarter project has exceeded all of their expectations. With a week left in the campaign, backers have pledged enough to unlock all of the initially planned “stretch goals” – when I talked to Cornboy and Eric Treadaway a few weeks ago at San Diego Comic-Con, both said they initially thought the last two stretch goals (regular and bone wings) were too far out of reach. Not so.

With long-time and new fans continuing to jump on board the project in a big way, the Four Horsemen are putting together new stretch goals for the push in the final week of the campaign.

Soapbox Sunday: How Much is Digital River to Blame for Mattycollector Fallout?

Mattycollector

Get ready for a little rant – I just had another bad Mattycollector experience. This past Friday was Early Access. Normally it’s no big deal, offering the figures we’ve already subscribed for and customer service stock on a couple of other figures. But this time it was for some of Mattel’s San Diego Comic-Con exclusives.

Hurray for subscribing, right? Nope – leave it to Digital River to make it painful.

AFP Free Stuff Giveaway – SDCC 2013 Exclusive Marvel Universe Deadpool Corps Taco Truck

Marvel Legends Deadpool with Marvel Universe Deadpool Corps SDCC 2013 Exclusive

If you’ve been following AFP for a while, you probably know that I love Deadpool – so when I had a chance, I bought the San Diego Comic-Con exclusive Marvel Universe Deadpool Corps that comes ingeniously packaged in a taco truck. But as cool as the taco truck is, I’ve found that I just can’t get by my low regard for the comic book mini-series that spawned this 6-pack of of Deadpool, Lady Deadpool, Kidpool, Dogpool, Squirrelpool, and the Champion of the Universe. I mean, just typing that in has me shaking my head with disdain. So, instead of keeping this exclusive, I’ve decided to put it up for grabs in a special AFP Free Stuff giveaway.

(Note: Marvel Legends Deadpool, who is confused at my decision to buy something just to decide to give it away, is not part of this giveaway. Him, I’m keeping!)

It’s easy to enter, so while there can only be one winner of this contest, I hope that my dislike of a comic book will result in you getting your hands on a sold-out San Diego Comic-Con exclusive. And if you’re already a fan of the AFP Facebook page or follow the AFP Twitter account, you can un-like and un-follow and then re-like and re-follow using the contest widget, for those extra shots at winning this giveaway. Spread the word and good luck!
