Finally, here’s our Marvel Legends Report for NYTF 2018 – all the reveals, booth pics, official PR pics, and teases – all in one spot. While Hasbro shared much of what’s to come throughout 2018, they still held back enough to keep us in suspense. Of all the waves covered in their Entertainment Brand Preview, all but one or two still have figures to reveal.
We’ll cover them in the order they were discussed and include the pics we shot in the booth and the official PR shots Hasbro shared with us. Read on!
Toy Fair has not officially started, but Hasbro has shared some product reveals in a pre-show tease from their Marvel and Star Wars product lines. As you might expect, both brands remain aligned with the major movie releases for the year.
On the Marvel front, Hasbro is continuing the Marvel Legends premium role play line with an electronic Infinity Gauntlet from Avengers: Infinity War. They’re also continuing the revamped Mighty Muggs line with new figures for Infinity War and Ant-Man and the Wasp. Hasbro previously teased upcoming Marvel Legends waves for Deadpool 2 and Venom.
Hasbro’s Star Wars reveals lean heavily into Solo: A Star Wars Story with new Black Series and Force Link figures, among others. But they also have a sprinkling of figures from Rogue One: A Star Wars Story and Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
Read on for lots of pics and product descriptions. And stay tuned for more reveals – the Hasbro media event for Toy Fair is on Saturday afternoon.
Our case of Marvel Legends Captain America: Civil War figures came with an extra pair of Cap and Iron Man figures. So in honor of the latest movie in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, we’re giving you a chance to add these two action figures to your own collection.
A couple of years ago I picked up a SHIELD ID badge and ID card from EFX, so I was pleased to see what they’ve got in store for fans of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. While all are extremely cool, there are some that fall out of my price range, like the replica helmets for Ant-Man, Iron Man, Loki, and Star Lord from Guardians of the Galaxy. (I try to convince myself I don’t have space for them anyways.)
They have more space (and cost) friendly items as well. Among those are the Containment Device and Orb used to carry and conceal the Power Infinity Stone. It uses Star Lord’s Gravity mine as a stand, but when opened, I was a little disappointed but greatly relieved not to see the Power Stone in there. EFX also has a 2-pack of Agent Phil Coulson’s Captain America cards – one set is near mint, while the other is gruesomely bloodied. To top it off, they had a portable power bank in the form of Tony Stark’s Iron Man Mark V suitcase, but smaller, of course.
Bill’s latest action figure comic is a special one in particular for me. He asked me who my favorite comic book character is – and as you may know, Deadpool is way up there. I went on to tell Bill what I thought would be a great idea for a comic. He came back with Deadpool – The Motion Picture, and generously gave me a “plot by” credit.
This comic book is better than 99% of the comics ever made. And just in case you don’t think so, a year ago I had a fantastic version of this. And it would’ve received great reviews. You’ll probably never see it. That’s reality though. 🙂
